Confessions of a Church Planter-2

Many times as a person who is in the ministry vocationally, people can get the perception or catch the vibe that we have this special phone-line to God and that we always know what to do. I just want to confess to all today that there are a lot of times that I just don’t know what to do. When this takes place, which it is very frequent, I have to go back to the basics. First, I have to look to the Word of God and read and ask the question… what does the Bible say? Many times when we don’t know what to do we text our friends, email someone close to us that will give us the answer we want to hear, or we sometimes do what is usually the dumbest thing we can do and that is go solo on the decision making process. But the very first thing we should do is seek out what God has already revealed in His Word. Next, We should look to and listen to the Word from God. This has to do with how has God spoken to me specifically through the Word for my situation. Next comes Godly council. We all have to have those people in our lives who are our “Paul and Barnabus”. Mine are my Father…who is one of the strongest christians I know, Dave Profitt, Clint Clifton, J.J.Alderman,and My Wife!
This is the process that this guy shared Sunday. It’s a process that has worked in my life over the last few years when it comes to making decisions. The verse that come to mind regarding this is Proverbs 11:14, “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” So just to let you know, I don’t always have an answer or know what to do… but I do serve a God who does have all the answers and who can do whatever He wants including using a ordinary guy to be a part of a extraordinary movement that is Aletheia.

Regardless of rather or not i deserve a spot on your list I am glad to know you and excited to be a part of what God will use you for.
